Bringing LGBT stories to the workplace

PrideSpeak brings panels of LGBT voices to corporate audiences, sparking dialogue and advancing the conversation around workplace diversity & inclusion in India.

Our speakers are:

• Everyday LGBT Indians who work in MNCs and Indian corporations.
• Trained to communicate their stories and answer questions effectively.
• Versed in issues confronting the LGBT community at work.
• From diverse regional and language backgrounds.
• Identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.

Why now? The business case

Many companies in India now recognize the need to create safe workplaces for all employees. Yet most Indians say they have never knowingly had a conversation with someone whom they know is lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. And 80% of LGBT employees in India experience homophobic comments at work; a third have experienced workplace harassment.*

Chances are, this is happening at your company. But how can you engage these topics in a culturally appropriate way? Trainers parachuted in from the West may not understand local terminology or be able to situate workplace issues in India’s long heritage of openness and inclusivity. Local HR teams may not have the depth of knowledge to skillfully discuss LGBT diversity.

That’s where we come in.

Our 90-minute interactive sessions invite you to experience stories of actual LGBT lives in India, through engaging personal anecdotes by speakers who tell their own stories and answer audience questions. Your audience’s questions and challenges will then shape the discussion that follows.

Face-to-face interaction in a safe, positive environment is the key element in creating LGBT awareness in Indian workplaces.
